When Beauty Comes Through the Cracks of Stone is a one-of-a-kind reversible hand-felted poncho built around the idea that beauty can emerge from places that appear hard, broken, or imperfect.
The main side is worked in grey, charcoal grey and white. Stone-like forms are carved directly into the felted fabric, creating the impression of a weathered stone surface rather than a printed or applied pattern. Flowers are individually sewn onto the piece, appearing among the carved forms as if they are growing through cracks in stone.
That contrast is the heart of the design: the strength and severity of stone against the unexpected softness of flowers—the idea that beauty does not require a perfect surface in order to exist.
The reverse reveals a very different composition. Bluish grey becomes the dominant color, with a flowing yellow-orange accent running through the piece. Because both sides are intentionally designed, the poncho can be worn in two distinct ways rather than having a simple front and lining.
