Fire in the Night is a one-of-a-kind reversible hand-felted poncho created as wearable abstract art.
One side is built around deep black and charcoal grey with vivid burgundy and red, warm gold accents, nuno-felted silk pieces and hand-applied beadwork. The surface was developed almost like a painting, with shifts in fiber, sheen and texture creating movement across the piece.
The reverse side offers a quieter palette of black and grey with flowing lines in shades of blue and green. Because both sides were designed individually, the poncho can be worn in two distinctly different ways.
The front is shorter for easy movement, while the back falls slightly longer. Front hand slits allow the hands to move freely while keeping the silhouette clean.
